TIP #1: Weaning of piglets (Pagwawalay ng biik)

Prior to winning of piglets, make sure that the pen where you intend to transfer the piglets is cleaned days before the day of the transfer. You may use antibacterial spray (there are branded sprays) or use the natural way – boil some madre cacao and sprinkle the water to the flooring and sidings of the pen.

It is also preferable if the pen (especially the flooring) is dry when you transfer the piglets to avoid contamination and the initiation of transferable diseases.

AGREECulture Area Activity

Do not bath your piglets 2 – 3 days after transfer.

When feeding (pre-starter or booster), it is best to use gradual shifting for them to adopt the transition of feeds easily.

Technical Services – Free and from the Heart (not just selling)

Anyone who has been involved in hog raising is already familiar with technical services. These are services dedicated for the growth of your farm. Sometimes these services are free and are truly excellent.

AGREECulture Technical Visit
What bothers me is that people are becoming more dependent on technicians instead of learning to solve their problems on their own. That means even if their sows are already giving birth (this should be considered as high priority), they still wait for the technician to arrive (even if the waiting time is hours) before their sows can successfully farrow. Imagine how hard it is for sows to experience this every farrowing. That’s not the only problem.

In hog raising, you will experience various problems that will need immediate attention and you should know how to handle it alone.

Informative Technical Visit
That’s why I’m insisting on self-help education and tips to be given to hog raisers every technical visit. That means the technician will teach the solution to the problem and not just solve the problem and leave (that’s what most technicians do).

Even during seminars we also have presentations on how to solve specific problems.

In our place, we have different competitors and technicians from different brands are almost everywhere. What is our advantage? I think it’s pretty obvious. We don’t focus only in selling but also educating raisers about hog raising. As a natural feed distributor, I’m very proud that I’m not just kicking the ass of my competitors in selling but also in taking care of almost all of the hog raisers in our town.

We are proud to be the sole natural feed distributor. We are proud to be part of AGREECulture.

Being CHEAP on the Consumption of Feeds in Your Farm DOES NOT Really Help You Earn More.

Hog raising has become a systematic business nowadays. Before, we just feed all the herds then just wait for them to grow. It’s a lot different today. Nutrition and genetics became the center of attraction. Fact is, there are really feeding methods that can help you earn more. Unfortunately, BEING CHEAP is not included on those methods.

Since I am a natural feed distributor, converting customers from conventional hog raising to natural hog raising is a BIG task for me. Imagine, every day of my life I am talking to people older than me and letting them know and understand that they are doing wrong ways on their farm and that’s why they don’t earn. Some are easy to talk to, others are in doubt (of course), but most are skeptical.

In terms of farm management, we have different kinds of hog raisers. Some of them are correct and most of them are wrong. That’s why they don’t earn in this industry.

A Natural Feed with Probiotics

I cringe whenever I hear someone say they want to skip a product line (pre-starter or booster for example) for the reason that they want to earn more and lessen the feed expenses. They thought that decreasing their feed expense will help them earn more but the truth is that the more you lessen your farm’s nutrition, the more you are decreasing your earning possibility (opportunity lost) because pigs don’t attain their maximum weight without getting the proper nutrition.

Is that really hard for these people to reduce (or just remove) darak from their feeding system?

Don’t get me wrong. I also want to earn more as a hog raiser and lessen my expenses but I have a different approach in getting my goals.

Here are some disadvantages of BEING CHEAP on feed consumption:

  • Pigs don’t reach their maximum weight (probably you already know the reason why).

  • Diseases can easily penetrate your farm (since their immune system are is weakened).

  • Casualties are much larger compared to the natural farm management.

  • You spend more on medicines (since your pigs are always sick).

  • Meat vendors don’t want to buy your pigs (because they know what you’re doing). Thus, your harvest is being delayed.

  • Your income opportunity decreases.

These are just some of the no-brainer reasons why you should quit on being cheap on feed consumption and start giving your farm the right nutrition.

Just imagine all your income losses by doing this. Calculate what you could have earned if you just gave your farm the right nutrition on your previous harvest. Most of all, if you want to earn more, try natural farming. This is an excellent way in maximizing your income while reducing your efforts in your herd.

See you at the top of your business!
